In a recent interview on the popular YouTube channel MotorByte, host Aman sat down with Amarjit Singh, an experienced traveller known for his incredible road trips around the world. This engaging conversation covered various aspects of Amarjit’s travels, his experiences, and the challenges he faced along the way. Here’s a detailed account of their discussion in a Q&A format.

Aman (MotorByte): Amarjit, it’s great to have you here again. Your previous videos have received an overwhelming response, with over a million views! Our audience is clearly fascinated by your adventures. Could you tell us more about your recent trip across the English Channel? How did you manage it with your vehicle?

Amarjit Singh: Thanks, Aman! Crossing the English Channel was quite an experience. There are two main ways to do it: one is by taking the Channel Tunnel, where you drive your car onto a train that takes you under the sea. The other option is to take a ferry, which is more flexible in terms of timing and gives you a different perspective of the journey.

Aman (MotorByte): That sounds amazing! Was it challenging to plan such a trip? How much time did it take to prepare everything?

Amarjit Singh: Planning a trip like this does take some time. It’s not just about the journey but also about getting all the necessary permits and paperwork in order. If you do it yourself, it could take around 3 to 4 months, but with the help of a consultancy, you might get it done in 2 months. It’s a lengthy process because each country has its own set of rules and regulations, especially when you’re traveling by road through multiple countries.

Aman (MotorByte): Speaking of permits, a lot of people want to know about the driving license. Do you need an international driving license, or is an Indian license sufficient?

Amarjit Singh: An Indian driving license is valid in many countries, but to avoid any issues, it’s best to have an International Driving Permit (IDP). Getting one is quite straightforward in India. You can apply online or visit your local Regional Transport Office (RTO). The IDP makes it easier to drive in foreign countries and is a recognized document worldwide.

Aman (MotorByte): And how do you manage driving on the right side of the road when traveling to countries where that’s the norm?

Amarjit Singh: It can be tricky at first, but with some practice, it becomes second nature. I’ve been driving internationally for years, so I’m quite used to it now. For first-timers, I suggest taking it slow and maybe even getting some training if possible. It’s all about getting comfortable with the change.

Aman (MotorByte): Another common question is about the cost. How much did this entire trip cost you?

Amarjit Singh: The total cost was around 40 lakh INR, but that was for a comprehensive journey covering multiple countries. We had four people traveling together, so it was about 10 lakh per person. This included everything from fuel to accommodation and permits. The fuel alone was a significant part of the cost, as we drove extensively across various terrains.

Aman (MotorByte): That’s quite an investment! However, many of our viewers are passionate about traveling but don’t have the financial means. What advice would you give them?

Amarjit Singh: You don’t necessarily need a lot of money to travel. There are many ways to explore the world on a budget. For example, you can find sponsorships or partner with brands. I’ve also made videos about traveling for free or on a minimal budget. It’s about being resourceful and finding creative ways to fund your travels. Passion and determination can take you far!

Aman (MotorByte): That’s very inspiring! Before we wrap up, is there any advice you’d like to give to aspiring travelers?

Amarjit Singh: Yes, start small and build your experience gradually. You don’t have to begin with a big international trip. Explore your local areas first, understand the dynamics of traveling, and then move on to bigger journeys. Also, always stay prepared and informed about the places you are visiting.

Aman (MotorByte): Fantastic advice, Amarjit! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us today. We look forward to seeing more of your adventures!

Amarjit Singh: Thank you, Aman. It’s always a pleasure to share my journey with the MotorByte audience. Keep traveling, everyone!
